Welling Court Mural Project has humble beginnings. The story goes that members of the Welling Court community in Astoria, Queens met up at Ad Hoc Art’s gallery in Bushwick. An idea materialized: Why can’t we beautify our neighborhood using contemporary street art? From there, a plan was hatched and a successful collaboration between the Welling Court community and Ad Hoc Art began.
Hundreds of murals later and now in its 10th year, the multi-block event is stronger than ever. The next iteration of the event takes place on June 8th, from 12:00PM – 7:00PM at 30th Avenue and 12th Street. There will be more than 150 murals, reflecting the incredible works of local, national, and international artists. The event is free and open to the public, and boasts music, food, and much more.
If you can’t make the party or hobnobbing with street artists while they work isn’t your thing, you can visit the neighborhood on your own schedule at and point in time, just as we did here.
