The Hester Street Fair Ice Cream Social returns this year to the South Street Seaport. It’s a great opportunity to discover emerging ice cream purveyors and and support local small businesses. Entry is free, but a $10 tasting ticket buys you a 2 oz sample of one flavor per vendor, and a chance to vote for your favorite and crown a new winner. Contenders include:
Creme and Cocoa Creamery - Ice Cream & Sorbet made by a husband-and-wife duo of Omar and Astrid Thorpe who will give us the traditional ice cream shop fun with a tropical twist
Kente Cones - African and Afro-American-inspired pop-up ice cream store using ingredients from Ghana and local farms
Mochii NYC - A thin layer of sweet dough that is wrapped around a center of scrumptious, premium ice cream that is gluten-free and vegan
Smoove - Handcrafted Ice Cream, Cakes, Bobafloats, and Croffles
So Sarap NYC - Introducing Filipino ice cream flavor such Ube and Cheese. Try it with one of their cones or a piece of bread to feel transported to the Philippines
