Neil Gaiman Talks About Netflix's The Sandman: Live and Virtual Event
The 92nd Street Y has been a New York City cultural institution for over a century, and its programming has welcomed some of the world’s foremost names in art, literature, culture and education. Bestselling author and graphic novelist Neil Gaiman returns to 92nd Street Y to discuss the premiere of Netflix’s The Sandman with Josh Horowitz. The new series based on one of Gaiman’s most iconic works that has soared to Netflix’s top streaming ncharts all around the world..
Gaiman’s graphic novel, which follows a god of dreams mending his powers after a long imprisonment, is a work of literary fantasy that has earned legions of fans over the years. Netflix’s new series was executive produced and co-written by Gaiman himself. In this talk, Gaiman will discuss how he conceived of the story, the long afterlife of his creation, getting the adaptation right for a new generation of fans, what’s next for The Sandman, and much more.
We’ve had the pleasure of attending many of Gaiman’s readings and talks over the years, and can’t recommend it enough.

Summer Streets is a multi-day, annual car-free event. The Department of Transportation’s eagerly anticipated program offers residents and visitors alike the opportunity to travel from the Brooklyn Bridge to East Harlem three consecutive Saturday’s in August. The event’s purpose is to provide space for healthy recreation and encourage New Yorkers to use more sustainable forms of transportation.
Along the route, participants will find the usual unobstructed lanes for cycling, running and walking, as well as Rest Stops with booths and installations from innumerable city agencies, organizations, and companies offering free activities, performances, demonstrations and products. Highlights this year include:
Taste of Summer at Astor Place with brands like Café Grumpy, Vitaminwater and Mike’s Hot Honey offering samples of tasty snacks and beverages
Fitness classes at Cooper Square like Vinyasa Yoga by Just Like Om and Weigh2Dance by Athleta
