KUSAMA: Cosmic Nature at The New York Botanical Garden is an exclusive, comprehensive examination of internationally celebrated Japanese artist Yayoi Kusma’s lifelong attraction to nature. The exhibition will include four experiences spread across the Garden’s Conservatory, Library, and 250-acre landscape, with myriad works from throughout the artist’s prolific career on view.
Visitors will experience a mixture of both archival and debut works, including monumental sculptures of flora, Kusama’s signature polka-dotted organic forms, a 13-foot0-high biomorphic form, paintings of plants and flowers, and an Infinity Mirror Room. In addition, incredible seasonal displays will also be on view, complimenting the artist’s works and making it so that each visit is unique by offering new plantings, colors, and textures.
NYBG has incorporated the best practices and guidelines from health authorities and government agencies to ensure the safety of all visitors. There will be reduced Garden capacity, timed-entry ticketing, mandatory face covering, and social distance requirements.
