For the first time in 3 years, the New York Public Library is bringing back its uber-popular Library After Hours event. The Stephen A. Schwarzman Building at NYPL’s flagship location on 5th Avenue is one of the city’s most iconic buildings, and it sits at the top of our list of NYC destinations for book lovers. The beautiful Beaux-Arts structure has been featured in innumerable movies and television shows, and has also hosted its fair share of celebrity weddings. Don’t miss a chance to see it in a completely different light, as it hosts the most sought-after Friday Happy Hour event in the city.
In honor of Women’s History Month, Library After Hours will feature special displays of rare books, posters and photographs highlighting the lives and works of notable women throughout history. Music by DJ Remarkable (Maria Garcia) will fill the hallowed halls, while snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. The iconic Rose Main Reading Room will become a Women’s Hall of Fame, with Harpist Kristi Shade providing a suitable soundtrack. Films, crafts, games and puzzles will ensure a festive evening for all.
The event is 21+ only. Tickets are Pay What You Wish, though there is a suggested contribution of $15. All proceeds will benefit the New York Public Library and its programming.
Pro Tip: Please note that this event is hugely popular. Entrance cannot be guaranteed, so we recommend arriving as early as possible, and dressing for the weather in case you’re waiting in line for a while.
